Chef de Mission Seminar in Beijing, China

From 5th to 7th of September, delegates from around the world will attend the Chefs de Mission Seminar for the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, in Beijing, China. Around 200 representatives from 90 National Paralympic Committees will be together to discuss and learn more about the procedures and logistics of the Games.

Topics to be overseen either by presentation or workshops are: sport entries and accreditation, classification, villages, transport, medical services/doping control, NPC Relations and Services/Protocol, among others. The executive President of BOCOG, Mr. Deng Pufang wrote: “We sincerely hope that this Seminar can serve as an opportunity to enhance the exchange and communication between us.” The Seminar agenda also includes some Venues Tour.

The Opening Ceremony will be addressed by Mr. Liu Qi, President of the Beijing Organizing Committee (BOCOG), and Sir Philip Craven, President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). In the evening of 6th of September, a One-year Count-down Ceremony will be held by BOCOG.

Many of the countries which already have qualified some athletes for the Games will be attending, and from the Americas Region, we shall have several countries represented by their delegates. The President of APC, Mr. Andrew Parsons, will be there, as well, to participate in the Seminar and its whole agenda.
