Rio 2007 Parapan American Games

The Rio 2007 Parapan American Games were a great success and a milestone for the history of the Paralympic Movement in the Americas Region.

With the participation of 1150 athletes from 25 countries, competing in 10 sports, the Games brought attention and visibility to the Paralympic cause. Moreover, it was the first time that only one organizing committee was responsible for both Pan and Parapan Games. The competition venues, the Paralympic Village, were all the same of the Pan American Games, bringing some equality to the athletes of Paralympic sports.

Brazil, as the host of the Games, had the biggest delegation, with 240 athletes, and the incredible result of 228 medals.
